A Common Sense of Place film completed for Isle of Man Government

In April we worked with Martin Cassini from Equality Streets on a 5min film comissioned by the Isle of Man Government (Department of Infrastructure).
The film, shot in Bristol & intercut with footage from other towns in the UK, explores the advantages of 'shared space' on our streets, a system in which traffic lights are removed, cars filter in turn and pedestrians are given equal rights.
Martin has campaigned for and worked on a number of successful schemes of this type, and the IOM Department of Infrastructure comissioned him & Maniac Films to produce this film which will be used at various meetings about the refurbishment of the promenade in Douglas.
The film has now been published on the Isle of Man Government Youtube channel, but you can view it by clicking o the button below.

Video workshops for Bristol University students

We have just finished a 2 day video training course for a group of Electrical Engineering students at Bristol University.
The department of Electrical Engineering would like their students to create short flims showing their work, progress and how the university is helping to further advances in the communications industry.
Most of the group (made up of PHD students & Postdoctoral researchers) had very little experience of filming so we took them from the absolute basics of video and sound recording through to filming out on location and then editing the footage.
Our picture on the left shows the students during a practical session. They had been split in to groups to experiment with speaking to camera and two groups ended up interviewing each other.

It was fantastic to watch their confidence grow and we hope that they learnt a lot that they can use to create some great videos in the near future.
