The unit is small and compact, featuring 24k gold input/output connector contacts and a silver finish casing. The unit does not require mains power when using cables under 5 metres in length, however for more reliable signal performance over long cable runs, the unit also features an inbuilt pre-emphasis function that can become active when using a mains power supply
