topic icon Interview with A Surfer Film Repair & Conversion

Local legend Trev 'Toes' Lumley has been a key figure on the North Devon surfing scene for as long as we can remember. He ran an internet caf? and Eyeball surf check for many years and was the man to know for all things North Devon surfing..

In October Trevor popped into the Maniac Films office in Croyde brandishing a battered looking VHS tape. On the tape was a short comedy drama film made in the 90's called Interview With The Surfer. Trev himself appears in the film, and he felt that it was time this "masterpiece" saw the light of day. Its fairly hilarious mockumentary about a surfer living in Woolacombe.

Title from Interview with a surfer

Some extracts from the iconic cultural, dare I say masterpiece made during the growing popularity of surfing during the 1990′s. Filmed between London and Woolacombe at the infamous Sands Hotel and Marisco disco. Please Note: No secret spots or real sherbet was used in the making of this film. Warning: If you do decide to watch this, it will be 26 minutes and 30 seconds of your life you will never get back.

We digitised the tape, cleaned up the footage as best we could and also repaired the sound which was quite noisy in places. There still some dodgy bits but its more watchable now. The 26-min film is now available to view on YouTube - see the link above.
