DVD and Blu-ray Duplication or Replication

For disc quantities below 1000 it is usually cost-effective to duplicate the discs in the UK rather than make a glass master (Replication). The per-disc price is higher, but there is no separate AACS licence to pay per-title, or per-disc as that is already included in the disc price. You get high quality disc on-body printing as well as the inlay, booklets and O-ring sleeves and cellophane over-wrap.

For DVD and Blu-ray runs of over 1000 copies, it is best to use replication instead of duplication. Replication is not carried out in-house, but at a dedicated factory in Europe. The process involves making a glass master disk, from which multiple copies are then made. We create a mastering format BDCMF (for Blu-ray) or DDP (for DVD) for replication of masters of your finished disc.

We have a good working relationship with one of the largest disc replication factories in Europe, and aim to negotiate a good price. Replication also includes very high quality Lithographic printing process for the actual disk on-body printing, so ensure your artwork is 300dpi or greater CMYK. The process is all electronic now, and we upload your masters and artwork to the replicator and manage the process for you.

Blu-ray Replication Pricing

The price for Blu-ray replication varies based on the quantity ordered, the number of booklet or insert pages, whether you have a single sided or double-sided inlay, the box colour can also make a change to the price. Single Layer 25GB and Dual layer 50GB Blu-ray disc replication pricing is usually the same for quantities above 500. We can quote on re-runs where a glass master exists or for new Blu-ray titles that will need an AACS per-disc fee as well as an AACS per title fee.

We can quote for disc-only print and replication, inlay artwork print, booklet printing and insertion into Blu-ray cases, cellophane over-wrap as well as cardboard O-ring sleeves with high quality matt lamination for protecting your Blu-ray artwork.
