We have added the Blackmagic Design Micro Studio camera G2 4k 12G Kit to our live kit to complement the Blackmagic 6K Studio camera for live event shooting. Billed as the 'Worlds Smallest Ultra HD camera' the 4k G2 really is tiny and can be slotted anywhere you can think of. We have added a cage to give more mounting options, but you can strip it right down to just the camera if you really need it tiny. 

This camera kit is complete with a very functional XLCS Designs camera cage, a Micro 4/3rd Panasonic-Lumix G X Vario 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 Power OIS Zoom Lens and several pigtail cables, a small FX Lion Vlock plate and small nato rail for mounting a monitor like the Blackmagic 5 inch focus assist monitor or couple with the new PYXIS monitor for touch control too over the usb-c connection.

The camera supports 1080 and 4K 12G output via micro SDI as well as full size HDMI output and can be fully controlled from the Blackmagic Vision Mixer range like the ATEM 4K Production mixer we have available for hire. Control of Zoom, Iris, Focus as well as Gain, colour adjustment can be performed on the camera or via the remote ATEM link. Connect a second SDI cable from the ATEM back to the SDI input for camera control from the ATEM software or hardware panel.

This micro 4/3 camera can record 4K 12G BRAW to an SSD via the USB-C port, or you can record from the HDMI or SDI signal on a remote recorder. The menu system on the camera can be used to set up a clean feed or to display the menu system itself. Ideally, very first setup needs to be done on an external monitor as it has no built-in monitor. We tend to set the HDMI out for the monitor and can then use the menu to set up frame rate and recording options and leave the SDI out as a clean feed (with selectable LUT) before mounting the camera. You can record LUT or not to the SSD. Alternatively, connect to an ATEM mini over HDMI and get colour correction control and record trigger from te switcher.

This really is a micro cinema camera that also includes a built in microphone and a tally light and an external mic (mini jack) connection to make it super versatile. The sensor resolution is 4096 x 2160 and supports from 23.98 to 60p at 4k for 12G operations. The camera has exceptional low light performance too and features dual native ISO of 400 (0dB gain) and ISO 3200 (18dB gain) which provides 13.3 stops of dynamic range.

If you have a Blackmagic Vision mixer, this camera is a valuable addition for live events as an unmanned camera that can be adjusted remotely. The cage can be removed if needed, but there are mounting holes on the cage below and above and a cheese plate on the back allows you to fit many accessories or mounting options.
