DVD authoring for Lucky Lady re-release

Maniac Films have been working on a DVD re-release of the 1975 comedy-drama film 'Lucky Lady', starring Gene Hackman, Liza Minellia and Burt Reynolds

Set during the Prohibition era, we follow a young widow, Claire (Liza Minelli), who gets involved in liquor smuggling and romance with two men, Walker (Burt Reynolds) and Kibby (Gene Hackman), off the San Diego coast. Organized crime controls bootlegging back east and wants to do the same here, so a hit man named McTeague is sent to deal with these amateur crooks, as is the Coast Guard, leading to various battles at sea.

Although the film is now over 40 years old, it only received it's first DVD release back in 2011. Now in 2016 it is being re-released within the UK by Three Wolves

We were supplied a copy of the film with both English & German audio along with cover artwork, from which we were able to design new DVD menus for the authoring. We converted the film assets before importing them and the menus (including main menu, chapters menus & audio selection menu) into the authoring software and built a master DVD.

The first master was sent to the BBFC for approval, however the original film included a cock-fighting scene which would have required the film to have a higher age certificate, so Three Wolves asked us to edit out the offending scene and re-author a new master disk to pass the BBFC certification

Once the master disk was approved we uploaded the files to Sony for replication and distribution to retail stores.
