Now available to hire, the Blackmagic Video Assist 4K HDR 7 inch monitor/recorder with V-lock batteries for long monitoring or recording.

Now it’s easy to add professional monitoring and broadcast quality HD & 4K video and audio recording to any SDI or HDMI camera!

The V-lok kit adds the ability to power the unit using a Pag battery, mounted onto a v-lok plate on the back of the cage

The new 12G HDR model builds on on the original, adding brighter screens for HDR work, tally indicator, 4 built in scopes, enhanced focus assist features, 3D LUTs, up to 4K internal recording and native Blackmagic RAW recording from supported cameras!

With a super bright 2500nit 7 inch display that’s larger than the built in screen on most cameras, Video Assist makes it easier to frame your shots and get absolutely perfect focus!

The dual built in high speed UHS-II recorders use commonly available SD cards to record HD and Ultra HD video as professional 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes or DNxHD files. Unlike DSLRs, which record heavily compressed files that are hard to use with video software, Video Assist records professional, 10 bit broadcast quality files such as ProRes and DNxHR that are compatible with all leading video software so you can start editing immediately, without time wasting file conversions. It also records new Blackmagic RAW as well

This model also includes a USB‑C Expansion port for external recording. USB‑C flash disks have massive capacity as they don't suffer from any size constraint and it also allows you to record direct to a drive which can be edited from - saving data transfer times

This unit has great audio capability and offers Phantom power -48v over XLR for attaching two microphones. You can adjust levels for each mic and monitor the signals on headphones or record embedded audio from the video input. There are plenty of screw holes to mount a radio mic or a shock mount to the top and to mount brackets to mount the monitor on your rig.

To help you to connect your audio gear to the monitor, we offer a XLR to mini-XLR cable, or a mini jack to mini-XLR cable for Sennheiser radio mics.

This monitor is supplied with:

  • 1x Canon battery charger with mains adapter
  • 1 x mains power adapter (UK)
  • 2x mini XLR to female XLR cables to plug in your mic's
  • 2x 128GB SD cards that are compatible for 1080 recording
  • 1x SD card reader

If you need more space for recording, we now offer a 2TB Samsung T7 SSD as an add-on.

If you need longer battery life (this unit is quite power hungry!) we have extra batteries or you can use our dummy LE6 battery with DTAP and power the monitor from your rig batteries.
