MANIAC films again helps UTIL4 ltd and Inmarsat with a rugged Satellite Internet service for the World Rally in Wales 2004. Mark Brindle in association with UTIL4 helped build a rugged version of a wireless hot spot using Cisco wireless technology to link up VIP guests with live Race data whilst on remote stages of the WRC event. The equipment was setup at hospitality areas at the Wales event.
The UTIL4 platform - known as Nomad4 ™ is a ruggedised system for providing Wireless connectivity and shared Internet access via a mobile Satellite system from Inmarsat (Regional BGAN). The system provides a very high level of authentication and wireless security using Cisco LEAP technology and is ideally suited to environments like the World Rally events.
"Wales was a fun event" said Mark Brindle, "We got to see quite a bit of the Rally this time - as the equipment could be setup at hospitality areas and ran from a generator"
UTIL4 have created a new web site for Nomad4 to help increase exposure and awareness of this product.
"We currently use Nomad4 for our web casting service" said Mark Brindle, "we hope to expand this service offering in 2005"
