November 2004 update - WRC British Rally (Wales) update.

MANAIC films helps UTIL4 ltd and Inmarsat with a rugged Satellite internet plaform for the World Rally in Cyprus 2004. Mark Brindle in association with UTIL4 helped build a rugged version of a wireless hotspot using Cisco technology and Intel Centrino wireless technology to link up VIP guests with live Race data whilst on remote stages of the WRC event.

The UTIL4 platform - known as Nomad4 ™ is a ruggedized system for providing Wireless connectivity and shared Internet access via a mobile Satellite system from Inmarsat (Regional BGAN). The system provides a very high level of authentication and wireless security using Cisco LEAP technology and is ideally suited to environments like the World Rally events.

"The logistics in Cyprus meant we had to demonstrate the technology at the eventmasters 'be a rally driver' session, but the VIP guests were keen to keep up to date on the real Rally and could access Live race data in between driving the course" said Mark Brindle from MANIAC films.

"We are set to use the same system (Nomad4 ™) at the next Rally event in Wales" said Mark, ".. this time we intend to demonstrate live video streaming across Satellite to the Inmarsat HQ in the Rally Service Park. At the same time we will provide access to live race data whilst at hospitality areas on the stages of the Rally"
