Job Description
Maniac Films Ltd are a small and dynamic award-winning video production company based in Croyde Bay North Devon, servicing a UK client base for corporate video production, dvd authoring, product photography and bespoke cd rom/dvd rom production, camera equipment rental and crewing for drama and corporate filming. They provide a wide variety of services to small and large businesses, including full video production services, editing, colour grading and motion graphics, visual effects and audio post production. They also produce documentary, music videos, promos, extreme sports videos and provide a variety of web and IT services to help support video production for Bluray, digital cinema, the web and mobile devices.
There is now an opportunity for an Apprentice to join the company as an advanced apprentice in creative and digital media, starting summer 2012. Candidates will ideally live close by in North Devon and have access to public or private transport. Some car sharing can be arranged for staff who live in Barnstaple or en-route via Barnstaple.
It is expected that the candidate will have excellent GCSEs/equivalent results in English and Maths and is looking for an alternative route to University with a vocational training scheme in creative media, or someone who wants to break into media and gain practical skills without going to University. Skills covered include all aspects of HD video production, stills photography and technical adjustment of photos, elements of motion graphics and compositing, video encoding, dvd authoring, audio engineering, media archive management, preparation of equipment for filming, checking in camera kit and building shooting kits before and after rentals, keeping track of stock with an internal inventory management system, assisting camera crew on multi-camera shoots. Other areas that may be covered include website design, build of interactive cd and dvd rom products, graphics design for the web, plus some of the more boring stuff like cropping dvd covers!
This vacancy will suit someone with an interest in creative media, photography or video; but most importantly the desire to be hands on in a job role where you will learn from the ground up. Successful candidates will be practical, with a keen eye for detail and an appreciation of the importance of quality, consistency, customer services all with a creative flair.
You will work closely with the business owner, receiving supervision and training, yet be able to demonstrate initiative where necessary. Ideal candidates need to be very self motivated and able to work on their own initiative and in a team. Good English language skills, mathematics skills are essential.
