MANIAC films news and updates 2010:

Katy Goodwin fine artist

December 2010 - Painting photography and site design for Katy Goodwin begins

We have started working on a brand new website for Croyde based seascape painter Katy Goodwin.
The aim of the website will be to promote her work and any upcoming exhibitions, as well as providing a platform to sell her work.

As part of the site creation, we are also photographing her paintings. Her pieces can vary from a 3x1' oil painting to a set of three that form one picture and huge 4x4ft canvasses. The challenge for us is to ensure that the photograph accurately protray the colours of the painting to truely show off her work.
We hope to have the website online early in 2011 with more pieces being added as we receive them

The new-look site will be a cleaner, more modern website, with easier to use navigation and better overall functionality. The site should be online in January and will feature all of the same great products.
Robin, owner of Genesis said "I really love the new look of the site. I think it brings us in-line with other sites and will be a lot nicer for our customers to use. I'm really excited!".
As well as the site re-design, we have also been adding new products, many of which were online for the Christmas rush. and others willbe ready for January.

December 2010 - Updated promo film for Bristol Univeristy Engineering dept.

In order to help promote the courses and teaching methods at the Engineering Department of Bristol University, we have just fished updating a short promo film for them.
We were sent a low-res rough edit with mono(left channel only) sound. The film had been made by cutting up a longer 20min edit, but had lost a lot of the original quality. Here at Maniac we re-cut the 6min edit, using footage from the full quality 20min film.
We also tweaked and fixed the sound, creating a stereo mix and cleaning a few distorted sections
The film was sent back to the University the next day to be shown as part of a presentation to future students.

Edirol R-44 field recorder

February 2010 - Glidetrack SD Dolly 0.5m.

After much decision, we have finally taken delivery of a Glidetrack SD 0.5m portable dolly.
The glidetrack is a very simple device. It can be set on any surface or on a tripod and provides beautiful tracking or panning dolly shots.
The unit can be mounted on pretty much any tripod and you can even attach a tripod head to the top for extra control. If you combine two tripod heads you can even recreate a crane shot.
Our Glidetrack measures 50cm long and adds a new dimension to most shots. We reccommend this be used wih the Canon 7D, but other smaller cameras can be used as well.
